PECULIARITIES ES OF THE FUNCTIONAL STATUS OF THE SMALL INTESTINE IN CHILDREN WITH IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME LIVING IN DONBASS
Abstract
The irritable bowel syndrome is one of the most common of functional gastrointestinal tract disorders in the population. The aim of the study was to study the prevalence of the small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome and carbohydrates malabsorptionin children with irritable bowel syndrome living in Donbass during active hostilities. 135 children of senior school age with irritable bowel syndrome with prevalence of diarrhea were examined. The treatment group consisted of 105 patients, who lived on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic during active hostilities. The experimental group consisted of 30 children, living on the territory of the Russian Federation or Ukraine and who came to Donetsk for the time of the cessation of an active military conflict. A high frequency of the small bowel bacterial overgrowth syndrome in children with irritable bowel syndrome with prevalence of diarrhea was established. The high prevalence of carbohydrates malabsorption among children living in the Donetsk People’s Republic, in some cases, is associated with a violation of the microbial landscape of the small intestine and can underlie the development of clinical symptoms of this disorder.
